Quick, name your top three goals. If you’re like 80% of the population, you might feel a little overwhelmed. You see, chances are, you’ve never really thought about your goals.
We all have needs and wants, but it can be hard to put those desires to paper. Maybe you envy your neighbour’s beautiful garden, but have never cultivated your green thumb. Maybe you find yourself staring at that corner office, but never imagined yourself as a higher-up. Don’t worry — it isn’t too late.
If we do a little digging, we find that our goals are already there. Step one? Brainstorm. If you write down your goals, you’re 10x more likely to achieve them. So, start by writing down one goal in each of three categories: work, health and relationships.
Once you identify your three core goals, make a step-by-step list for each. If your health goal is to run a marathon and your current idea of a marathon is walking from the fridge to the couch, you’ll want to start small. So, break your goal down. For example, step one is “buy a pair of running shoes”; step five is “run a 10k”; step ten is “run a full marathon”.
When it comes to setting and achieving goals, you’ve got to be mindful. Identify your goals, plan on achieving them, and take the steps you need to get there.
